Dictionaries of Scottish and Irish Surnames

Post by Wombat »

Can anyone recommend any good in print dictionaries of Scottish and Irish surnames giving origins and meanings? I know the task has been done for both, but the ones I've heard of are currently out of print as far as I know.

I have one for English names which also contains, on a random hit or miss basis, a lot of Scottish and Irish names.

I don't just want the dirt on my family; I want the dirt on yours as well.

I don't think I'd even bother with a book. Just do google searches. There are lots of sites which provide info of that sort.
