Hi to everyone I have recived from ebay a flute head made in rosewood
made by an Old maker of london it has ivory rings and the barrel brand
"HODSOLL" "45 High HOLBORN" "London" "859"
it sounds nicely and some Ivory ring are marked "patent" ; )
what you can tell me about this maker?
any other flute like this?

William Hodsoll worked in London from 1798 to 1831 ,when his business was taken over by Zenas Trivet Purday ,according to Langwill .Mark with a lyre .

Yes, there is the lyre mark on the barrel.
I have never heard about this maker before.
I'm also impress by the metal inside the head: it seems pure silver: I was thinking that silver was used only to build keys in 1800's flutes
