Sad news Allan Moller RIP

Post by benwalker »

Just heard from a mutual friend that Allan Moller has died. Very sad news and his reed making skills and knowledge will be sorely missed.
For those of you who met Allan he was always ready to help his fellow piper with his knowledge of reeds and reed making.
A colorful character if ever there was one! I spent many the hour with Allan and though I lost touch with him I will have many memories of our time together
Rest in peace Allan.

Allan was a member of this board since nearly its inception in 2001. On behalf of Dale and the Mods, our sincere regrets and condolences to his family and friends.

Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

I am very sorry to hear this news. He produced one of the best all round Video, and later by edition DVD reed making guides, well before most others got going, and encompassed the full remit of reed production, double reeds and drone reeds and finally, tuning regulators.

These certainly helped and even sustained my reed making attempts, such that I am self sufficient. They have nuances that others lack, and other beginners in the art of reed making and voiceing would be well advised to obtain a copy, to help them along the way.

Yes sad news about Allan

He has made me few reeds over the years my post for my Andreas Rogge set. 2 D wide bore chanter reeds and tenor and baritone regulator reeds.

Allan was the first video of reed making I watched for years before starting my own reed making journey.

Very sad news. I remember meeting him at Willie Week in 1997 I think it was. Very nice friendly man and knowledgeable reedmaker.

May he rest in peace,

Patrick
