Anything in the "Emo" genre makes me want to toss my cookies. One of
my coworkers tried to explain it to me, something about screaming
because it is so emotional to the artist. I countered that I suspected it
was more a lack of a good singing voice.

My kid tried to explain that to me too. Here I thought they were talking about Emo Phillips the whole time.

Many of the bad ones have already been mentioned.

I've Never Been to Me. (Don't know who did it but it's horrible).
All stuff I've heard by Alanis Morsette (sic)
Anything by Bread
Most (especially modern) country music except I really like the group Asleep at the Wheel. They're more Texas Swing then C&W

I'd put anything by Mr. Possum on the homicidal/hysterical list.
My husband just loves anything he does. It's torturefor me to be trapped in a vehicle with that stuff blaring.
Muskrat Love.
MUSKRAT LOVE?! Oh, thanks a bunch :swear: I'd forgotten that. [reaches frantically for bucket...]

Especially the little cooing sounds that ostensibly are muskrat noises.

George Jones finest hour without a doubt.
How sad...

I listen to country music a lot, and love a lot of the old stuff- just, not that particular song. It's so sappy and GJ sounds so horrible, it's almost laughable. Sorry to break it to ya, but it is not a great song.

ohhh - sorry - I'll bring the ear plugs for you next time! :D

As to country - I grew up listening to "Midwestern Hayride" - which was all, real "country and western" performed by locals. They would have chicken dinners on WLW's repeater tower property (called it "Everybody's Farm"). Lots of Bob Wills, etc. And Hank Sr. (do NOT get me started on Beau Sephus!).
When I was working at the local amusement park in high school, I had to work at the booth selling souveniers for Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn at their concerts for an entire weekend. This was in either 1975 or 1976. If I heard one more time (in THAT accent) "I was married at 13 and a grandmother at 35" I was gonna SCREAM!
Can anyone answer me why Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gail have such different accents??????? :o

Not to mention Arnold and Danny Devito. For twins, they sound nothing alike. :P

Could be a case of nature versus nurture. (Or is that just the way they pronounce nature?)
May the joy of music be ever thine.

Starting after Thanksgiving, when stations get on their "all Christmas all the time" kicks---this horrible sappy weeper about the little kid buying shoes for his mother.

I bet that dawg was only called "Boo" becuz the folks thar cudn't spell "Beau".

How about a completely different Genre.

One that sets my hackles up is when some classical dude steals some folk number and orchestrates it and b*ggers it up completely.

See that Ben Britten - he needed a good kickin' he did.

But if "Boo" was supposed to rhyme with "you".....Well, maybe he meant "yo".

Britten I like. But there is Percy Grainger. There is one in particular---Country Gardens, or something like that? It just goes on and on forever. I can't take it.

I did think of a particular song that drives me insane----The Little Drummer Boy. I imagine it's been mentioned by now.
