Of course, people in other parts of the globe have computers and internet access . . . but I think we have more as americans. More computers per household . . . more TVs, more stereos, more gadgets, more cars . . . well, more stuff in general. Not a good thing, but true.
Erm - you don't think it might be caused by the inclination of most people to visit and use discussion boards and mailing lists in their own language? How many of the americans would be able to participate in a forum in french, german or swedish?

Germany, south-west, then north, now south-east.

You're quite right. The commonality of language and culture has a good deal to do with the large numbers of Americans and Canadians on the Board.

Most of the factors mentioned in this thread, by various people, probably play a role. And also the fact that the United States has a significantly larger population than Ireland or England or Canada.

But there certainly is a diversity of nations represented here.

Among the top 50 posters, there are folks in England, Ireland, Australia, Brittany, USA, Canada, Belgium, and Denmark.

Tell us something.: I'm not new here. I have been registered here for many years. I am not a spammer, though being from Hawaii, I do enjoy eating spam. Where am I from?

From the music that flows through mountains,
building the granite of my days into decades;
From the shower of smiles and tears watering
songs relevant to their moment;
From hope that new tunes
will arise to reflect new hopes;
From a need to play to find a harmony of ear
forging a harmony of my head and heart.

And of course,
From my obsessive compulsion
to end every post with ...
