I somehow managed to get things mixed up again!

Joseph MacDonald called the other movement a "tuludh" not a "torludh" I don't know where I got the later from, or if I even got it anywhere at all.

The Scots Gaelic tu is the personal pronoun you, and there doesn't seem to be a prefix tu-, leading to the likely conclusion that tuludh is simply a word of art.

In the section on "tuludh + creanludh" he mentions (and I wrote it down out of the book to be sure to get it right...) that a creanludh "is no more than a distinct division of the three notes." That actually is interesting, because that seems to be a decent description of a cran/crann. Interestingly, the modern Scottish piping edre (what he called a creanludh) is played so quickly it could not be considered to be a distinct division. It's more a blur of sound, a blip, or a chirp.

I've decided that my affectation level isn't all that it could be, so I think I'm going to start spelling it "cranne". :wink:
