Hi Flanum,

It' s Ciara. How are you? Heading down to Ennis?

My favourite favourite tunes are...

It is "Master McDermotts" and "Jackson's.

Both are reels.

In my opinion, there is something majestic and commanding about "Master McDermotts".

"Jacksons" is a nicer more complex version of "The Ships are Sailing".

I'm working on a "Jackson's" reel in Em, and that's been my latest "favorite" recently. It does lend itself to the thought that it's related to Ships Are Sailing now that you mention it.

I would have to say The Crosses of Annagh aka Bobby Casey's, the reel in D major, and one that never gets old is The Maids of Mount Kisco.

OnlyTwo tunes...ach hone!
Maybe two per instruments??? But to be fair, I'll have to pick "O'Carolan's Farewell to Music" and "Chumbha Craoibh Na Teidbh" ( Lament for the Tree of Strings".

Heavy duty harp music.

This minute it "cherish the ladies" (pipes} and "pigeon on the gate" {fiddle)

I got the 2nd part of POG but the first part, especially the first couple of bars has me stumped.

Thanks for all you fans of The Ivy Leaf. I had to be at a remote site during a conference on Friday, sitting in my car in the snow out at a salmon spawning stream waiting for groups of scavenger hunters to hike out for their next clue.

So I had two hours with a Bobby Casey recording, and I pulled that tune off it since y'all like it so much. Add a new favorite!

The Ivy Leaf is a cousin to Toss the Feathers (the one in Dm) so it took me a while.

My other old favorites: Swans in the Rushes (jig) and The Stolen Reel, both from Mike Rafferty.

Hard to pick just two.

"The Green Mountain" is a really great tune. Also "The Golden Eagle."

Also so many many others.

Ask me again tomorrow and I'd probably give you different answers.
