Yep. Oui. Sim. Tá mé (or Táim)
Interesting, there is no equivalent of 'Yes' in Gaelic. The question has to be answered directly.
So, in gaelic, "are you a piper" would have to have an answer "I am" or "I am not" - or maybe "it's none of your #@$@#@# business".
This comes across in "irish-english" - many Irish people do not use the word "yes" or "no" in English.
"Is that true?" - answer "It is" or "It isn't". (Or better "'Tis", or "'Tis not"

As ye raised the subject I am surprised to see that ye didnae know that since 1947 "yes and no" is commonly used in the school curricula...Tá agus Nil ....and nearly every Irish person I have known in my life can and do say Yes or NoAn píobaire fánach wrote:Yep. Oui. Sim. Tá mé (or Táim)

- Tell us something.: I am interested in the uilleann pipes and their typical -and broader- use. I have been composing and arranging for the instrument lately. I enjoy unusual harmonic combinations on the pipes. I use the pipes to play music of other cultures.
