Re: Pictures of Your Pipes
I made this set for myself. All hand turning and ye olde fashioned leather work.
Took me almost two years, between all the other irons in my fire.
The mainstock is hollow, made of asian fig. The rest is african blackwood (dalbergia melanoxylon), faux ivory, or (real) brass.
Note the one piece double bent brass bass drone inner section. I plan to use this as evidence for an insanity plea in court some day.
They are behaving well. Regs are in the works.
The paduak bellows are mine too. For a while, making these fed my family.
I make Irish flutes and whistles for a living these days. http://www.sweetheartflute.com

Re: Pictures of Your Pipes
My new four regulator set made by Chris Bayley in the style of R L O'Mealy.
Some nice touches on this one. It is a huge set but has been designed to fit into a hand luggage size case for travelling with.
The bass regulator has a latch system on it so it can be detached from the stock. The bellows have an angled inlet so they can be packed away neatly. The bass drone is straight, has a 'barrel' section instead of the S bend and had an extra join in the middle.
Materials are African Blackwood, Nickel Silver and Mammoth Ivory. Bag is hand stitched. Fourth regulator is a E regulator.
Ill get some sound samples too. Good loud set and easy to play.
More images on http://uilleann-pipes.co.uk/page17.html, where you can see it all polished up and how it is put together.

Just copy the "Image" tag and paste it into your window here
If you're linking to a photo site that's not so user-friendly and doesn't give you the pre-generated tags, you should be able to copy the link and then paste it here inside the "beginning and end" brackets (don't forget to include the picture extension like .jpg or whatever).

No, it's a concert D. He's a great fellow to deal with and close by to help me out when needed.

- Tell us something.: Not a new musician, but fairly new to the Uilleann Pipes. I am primarily a bass player, studied jazz bass in university, but also play, piano, saxophone, clarinet and drums. Looking forward to a long and happy experience with the pipes!

Re: Pictures of Your Pipes
My first real chanter.
It is made by Sam Lawrence of Hunter Pipes. It is a Concert D chanter with a bright crisp tone and a rich bottom D. It still appears on his website as being for sale (which it is no longer ) - but you can also hear clips there.
It is made from Caesalpina Ebona which I have learned is a rather obscure wood. It is sometimes called just Ebona or it may also be known as Brown Ebony or Columbian Ebony despite not being biologically related to Ebony. The wood is very hard and dense, and has a beautiful chocolate color that I can't completely capture in digital photos.
Boxwood mounts and brass ferrules and neck.
This is a great chanter and I consider myself terribly spoiled to be learning on it.
