Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

Yep, I don't tap all the time either (prefer not to when I don't need to), but recognise that it helps me keep a tighter rhythm for dance tunes.
Ain't that interesting? When I'm playing for dancers, I tend not to tap at all.

... but maybe that's not what you meant ...

For dance tunes, Ben (you know, jigs, reels and stuff?)... frequently solo and rarely actually for dancers!
And we in dreams behold the Hebrides.

Ah. You did mean something different from what I thought. However, it's a separate point which is worth making, I think:

I bounce my legs wildly for dance tunes, but don't even tap my feet when playing for dancers.

Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

I'd pay to see what would happen if you did the wild bouncy thing while playing for dancers. The mayhem...
