If you overuse any spice, after some time you start to become numb to it.

You should use it often enough to delight the listener, but not so often that they stop really hearing it.

I say it's all down to the players personal taste.

Some players don't honk at all. Miko Russell for example.

If a player is developing his / her style and thinks they would like to try it I'd say it worth doing. They will learn more than just how and where to honk. A stronger and developed embuochure is a prerequise of being able to honk well.

I'd second the danger of overdoing it (IMHO)

I'm curious to know why you added the last option to your quiz - the thing is entitled "If you can honk, do you..." and the last option is "I have no idea what you're talking about" - seem a bit mutually exclusive and undermines any dubious statistics deriving from it!!!!

To honk or not to honk -- that is the question
Whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The jigs and reels of outrageous sessions
Or to take arms against a sea of punters
And by hornpiping end them.
"Yes... yes. This is a fertile land, and we will thrive. We will rule over all this land, and we will call it... This Land."

To hornpipe, perhaps to slow air!
And by a slow air, to say,
That we end the thousand fast tunes that players are heir to,
'tis a session devoutly to be wished!

To air is human, to jig, devine.

A waltz! A waltz! My Kingdom for a waltz!

If music be the food of love, play on,
Give me excess of it, that surfeiting
the appetite may sicken, and so die.......
