How do I explain to my fiancee that I need more whistles.
Thats not so many. I don't think you need help.
I have twice that many whistles.
Just tell her to be happy you don't collect flutes like I'm doing.
You could collect worse... like concertinas or pipes.
Hmmm...
Its your hobby and you enjoy it.
I don't see where why you need to explain it.
I don't bug my wife over her camera buying obsession.
Its her money, she enjoys it and it makes her happy.
Thats all I need to know.

- Tell us something.: I'm just trying to update my profile. I need to change my location since I no longer is living in Sweden. I'm still playing the whistle though for the most time I'm just a lurker on the Chiff and Fipple board.

My wife did ask me one day : "Are you gonna play the whistle or collect them ?" and when I answered : "Both !" she did not really object..
However when I'm drooling over the Bleazy or the Abell websites she did mention that for a bad (at best) player like me, it would like really silly to show up a sessions with a whistle like that... And (as always) she does have a point.
So she gave me a really good incentive for me to practise... When I get better, I get to buy "better" (don't start the cheapie-expensive rant again, please ) whistles !!!
I do love my wife...

I resemble that remark (not looking at the 30+ whistles out of embarrasment).Aanvil wrote:Thats not so many. I don't think you need help.

My wife is pretty tolerant of my collection of musical instruments. I have three sets of recorders (SATB plus a contrabass and two sopraninos), whistles of various sizes, two flutes and recently have started acquiring harmonicas.
But then she has a large cupboard full of fabric, numerous part finished quilts, so I reckon its quits

My dad used to amass boats. "How many boats are enough?" "Just one more, dear" It could probably be worse...whistles take up much less storage space.
P.S. I got your whistle. I'm Sorry I never let you know, since I just moved houses for the summer and don't have internet anymore I've been pretty spacey with my communication. The whistle is addicting. I love Bb! I'll try to actually give you some detailed comments at some point.

I also have a relatively large collection of whistles and flutes. But I spent the last 3 months with only one whistle. I didn't really miss the others and I believe I became a better musician.

Hi
Great! I hope you will be happy with it and I would love some more comments when you have time. This is only the second home made whistle I've given to someone else and the other one was a D that I made for a kid who wanted to learn. I would love more comments about how someone who actually knows how to play feels about one of my whistles.
And yes, I did notice how addictive it was when I was playing it to test while I was finishing it. I have one more whistle head of the same design with C and D bodies. Looks like I'll have to make another Bb body.

Yes, that's true because if you have ALL whistles you would have the ones that are in my collection too...Bothrops wrote:I second Aanvil's opinion.
Besides, I think that you can never have "too many whistles", until you have them ALL!
