These selections are really interesting. It's interesting to see just which artists people gravitate to.
Perhaps even more interesting are selections of favourite artists that involve albums you regard as deeply flawed or a long way from their best. For me, no Beatles album challenges Rubber Soul and Revolver, although I really like all of them. Similarly, I love the Band but only Big Pink and the second album approach perfection. And the Rolling Stones made easily their best music as an R&B cover band in the mid 60s. So I wonder exactly what it is about the albums I don't rate so highly that appeals to others and what they miss in the albums I like best. It's fun and illuminating. At least I agree with the Joni Mitchell favourites. And it's nice to see others vote for Revolver if not for Rubber Soul.

Carey -- Carey Raditz or "Carrot" Raditz
The wind is in from Africa
Last night I couldn't sleep
Oh, you know it sure is hard to leave here Carey
But it's really not my home
My fingernails are filthy, I got beach tar on my feet
And I miss my clean white linen and my fancy French cologne

Good questions.
As for the Band, I guess I actually agree with you about the first two albums (especially the second), and choosing Rock of Ages was kind of cheating, since it offers the pleasures of a live greatest hits compilation. But the horn section is terrific, and I wouldn't want to give up Garth Hudson's wild Charles-Ives intro to "Chest Fever."
I just love the Richards/Mick Taylor sound on Sticky Fingers, and it has a sustained mood and song sequence that makes it the one Stones album I regularly want to go back to (as opposed to single songs). And it came into my life at kind of an interesting time.
