Thank you so SO much for all this info and links! I was going to ask about the instrument and music but then found the thread already here. :-)

I love these forums.

It is DUDUK - the Armenian national instrument.

Where else can you hear the Armenian duduk?

MOTION PICTURES:
Dead Man Walking
The Last Temptation of Christ
Ronin
The Crow
Gladiator
The Russia House
Storm and Sorrow
Onegin
Siege
TELEVISION:
Zena the Warrior Princes
Hercules

Or recordings of Djivan Gasparian - he is considered as a best master of duduk in Armenia.

I would dearly love to be able to find an actual twin-bore whistle or flute like the one Tumnus plays. Does such a thing exist anywhere?

Aren't duduks the coolest? I'd love to learn to play one of those.

Well, guys and girls, I'm really reluctant to push myself , but since this is spot on, well, have a look at my website. You'll find a couple of different double pipes there. I'm not doing the sales pitch, by the way, but this is one of very few places you can see anything like that.

Tell us something.: I am in my 70s and played music since fourth grade. Paid gigs include everything starting with church solos in 4th grade, nightclubs starting 9th grade, and worship ministry. Had a 29 year career teaching high school music both choral and instrumental. I've played several instruments starting with trumpet as my main ax. I added flute, sax and keys after college. Early 2000s whistles were added to my arsenal. I'm back to playing again after a 5 year hiatus.

Dan at Jubilee Music Instruments makes some interesting looking 2 head whistles. Worth checking out.

Double pipes....

I blush to admit it, but my very first 'whistle' was a Ukrainian double called a zholomiga--4 holes on the right side, 3 on the right. (Must be blown very gently.) Google it and you'll come up with a page on Ukraininan folk winds that has a drawing of it.

I also have a very cheaply made dvoyanka--you'll find quite a few listings on eBay that have photos of nicer-looking ones.

Lark in the Morning carries a double 6 hole called a 'mijwiz' from egypt.
