They Might Be Giants -- George C. Scott & Joanne Woodward
Summer Wishes, Winter Dreams -- Martin Balsam & Joanne Woodward
The Sterile Cookoo -- Liza Minnelli
Mass Appeal -- Jack Lemmon
The April Fools -- Jack Lemmon
Charley -- Cliff Robertson
The Owl And The Pussycat -- George Segal and Barbara Streisand
Butterflies Are Free -- Edward Albert and Goldie Hawn

There was also a counter-culture movie out that starred Elliott Gould and Candace Bergen. It coined the phrase, "There is no gravity; the earth sucks." But I can't recall the name right now.

All of these movies used to be on television as fillers for Sunday afternoons or at 2 a.m. I haven't seen any of them for quite a while for some reason. :-?

You know, I think you're right. Although I don't remember it being spelled like that or with the exclamation marks. Thanks.

Another one I forgot was Lilies of the Field with Sidney Poitier. Somehow I don't think the exclamation marks would work with that title.

Lilies of the Field!!

Nope. Doesn't work. :)

I'm not much of a movie-goer, I can rarely remember directors' names and I often forget movie titles. But, when asked this question my answer always is "Black Orpheus", a retelling of the Greek Orpheus story set in early 1960s Rio de Janeiro during Carnaval. Great music, great images and a story that has stood the test of time. If you have never seen it you should, now! :D

I seem to be in an old movie mood:

All the Charlie Chan movies.

All the Mr. Moto movies.

All the Saint movies.

All the Falcon movies.

All the Three Mesquiters movies.

Anything with Edna May Oliver and James Gleason.

Anything black & white with Robert Mitchum.

I thought surely this was an odd misspelling and was about to pounce on it, being the small and petty person I am. Fortunately Mike seems a sensible and careful person; so I googled the term and so narrowly escaped making an ass of myself (again). Learn something every day: There really were "3 Mesquiteers". I now feel culturally illiterate.

From a... review?
"(September 12, 1936): A novelly compounded outdoor action picture, this picture stacks up as satisfactory entertainment for houses specializing in this type of film. Fast moving, dialogue and action well balanced to provide engaging situations. There is plenty of excitement, stimulating material, sufficient uniquely contrived romantic love interest and more than usual amount of comedy." [emphasis added]

Don't know about the movie, but the review is certainly idiosyncratic.

Really?!?!? :o

Well, I did misspell it. But that's how we pronounced it when I was a kid.

Some of the movies had John Wayne--in place of Bob Livingston, I believe. During the mid-50s, there was a TV series that I've mentioned before. It included a Hispanic second or third banana who used bolas to catch bad guys. Our imitations led to lots of cuts and bruises.

Oh, and I omitted:

All the Topper movies and "Turn About", based on another Thorne Smith novel, I believe.

Found myself at a Walmart the other day - family member needed a restroom - they had a huge selection of $1 DVDs, really bizzare choices like Commandos, starring Lee Van Cleef. Flash Gordons from the 50s (I think). Also Wild Guitar, starring Arch Hall, Jr., produced by Arch Hall, Sr., under one of his pseudonyms. Some almost surreal moments here. One movie guide describes it as "Incredibly bad."
