I think I saw a crack on my Feadog Pro, too. Will check it out when I get home...
I wasn't very sure and I didn't give it too much attention, but now I'm beggining to worry about it. It was at the lower part of the fipple too, where it joins with the bodie.

I really like my little Feadog Pro, I hope it's nothing serious :sniffle:

It's difficult to see it in the picture, but here's the crack.... or at least I believe it's a crack, it could be a very deep scratch too...

Another use for the dishwasher is it helps your wife keep the kitchen clean.

I am going to try my OS Chieftain in the next load. Jury still out on throwing in the Kerry Pro Tunable.

But FIRST, I'm going to wash my mouth out with soap. ;)

That looks like the same kind of defect mine originally had.

Eventually, they became:

Now I'm worried.

Did you already talk with Paul McCarron from Feadog about this?

I guess since now on my Feadog suddenly became non-tunable...

I haven't...the other folks who said their whistles cracked, they mostly attributed the blame to themselves...hopefully, with some pictures out there, we can find out if there's truly a phenomenon happening.

That's amazing, Wanderer: those 2 cracks are in almost exactly the same place, and there's not
even a seam there... There must be a manufacturing problem resulting in weakness.
I bet the dishwasher trick voids the old feadog warrenty, though.

I've got cracked Meg mouthpieces, but only along the seams, and that's really cheap material.

If i had only had one of them, I may not have given it a second thought. I originally thought the black one cracked because I stressed it twisting the head off to make it tunable. The green one cracked some time in the whistle drawer in what appears to be the exact same place. It makes me suspcious of a weakness too.

Yep, mine is in the same place Greg. Looks exactly like your "Green Top". But like I said mine was i believe self-inflicted due to the experiment with plastic heads and dishwashers.... :)

Lesson learned: Extreme heat and plastic don't mix, but the good news from my experience is the Chieftains are clean and sterilized....
