Say "Never make a mermaid from the VDC" aloud.
:o I didn't know that it made mermaids blind :o

Can't be a Yank thing, because I don't know what VDC is, either. I'm pretty sure being Minnesotan doesn't disqualify me for once. Maybe it's a Canadian thing, s1m0n being from there and all.

.....By the way, you're writing in rather unaccustomed fashion, I must say. I'm guessing that either you're parodying the stereotype, or someone else is using your account. Needless to say, I have to be curious about that.

It isn't a merfolk thing.

I enjoyed the humorless emoticon free post by Denny too. This was the first time Tallyman and I were on the same wavelength. I expect this will be the last too.

Perhaps its generational. Or maybe just lame.

You can substitute STIC but that ruins the scansion.
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

Well, there you go. I'm old, and I'm lame. That has to be it.

Googling's no help so far, so how about being a sport and explaining the joke to your ignorant elders yourself?

Still no clue. But thanks.

Not so much. I've found these: Virtual Design and Construction, Volts of continuous current, Video Display Controller, Vehicle Dynamics Control, Velocity drift chamber, Virtual Data Center, Virtual DataCine, Volunteer Defence Corps, Valve Developer Community, Virtual Digital Cable, Vietnam Day Committee, Village Development Committee, and Vista del Campo.

I'm getting the impression that you are suggesting Veneral Disease for VD. Still dunno about the C part. Clinic?

Oh, wait. I think I get it now. It has its impact only as contrasted with "Never kiss a frog at Mono Lake". I was reading it as a discrete unit.
