I've been fortunate to play some seriously great flutes in my life, but I have to shout it from the rooftops: the new Delrin C flute I got from David Copley this week is EPIC. One of the most fun and rewarding flutes I've ever met. Easy to hold, lightweight, easy to blow, nice haunting funky C tone, and a low C (D fingering) that's a force to be reckoned with, especially when miked. I played it at our gig last night and our banjo player said it made his teeth tingle. Played a solo round of Porthole of the Kelp and it was a revelation; brought the house down (such as the house was, but all the patrons sat up and took notice and clapped enthusiastically). I felt like a rock star! And of course, when I picked up my D flute it felt like an Eb
But really, this is right up there with the best I've met, anyway. Especially for the price. I wanted a no-muss no- fuss C flute for those Dm fiddle tunes without too much expense, and got waaaaaay more than I bargained for. Thank you so much, Dave. I love it! So much I might even be compelled to post a clip or two

I know exactly what you mean, Denny...the inappropriate use of the word "epic" to describe anything positive is degrading our English language.Denny wrote:*sigh*

It's possible Cathy was temporarily possessed by my 12 year old son. Let's give her the benefit of the doubt, OK?

Re: Eminently C Worthy Delrin Flute from David Copley
Surely, the use of "epic" was inspired by her feeling like Odysseus, lashed to the mast to endure the Sirens' song. This is further evidenced by the "C worthy" quip. Very clever! But where be the clips?
And hats off to Dave, whose high-end flutes masquerade in mid-level pricing! I've only played one other as tempting, but they're harder to get. (Oh, well...I'm a happy man).

What kind of embouchure on this C-flute? Rounded rectangle or elliptical?

Any idea when Dave will be making them widely available?

Dave is going to be knee deep in Delrin strings now!

Re: Eminently C Worthy Delrin Flute from David Copley
the square cut he uses on his delrin flutes really works for ease of playability, volume, and honk; it's why i was hoping to get him to make me a Bb flute... but he said he doesn't have the time or resources to work on developing one right now. but i bet the C is great.
cheers,
eric
