If I were someone else would I still be a reasonable person?

Behind the reasonable mask of the mild mannered Walden lied a secret, his true identity was that of unreasonable man. Able to argue the color of a rainbow, more powerful than the obvious facts, able to leap vast caverns of logic, he is unreasonable man!

Putting on a pair of glasses will not fool me! I know your true identity.

Ah, but George Bernard Shaw said "All progress comes from the unreasonable man, because the reasonable man accepts things as they are."

So Walden's secret identity is the proponent of progress and improvement (we hope)!

Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

I think I'd like to be someone else again today. Now, if I had already been someone else (it could have happened) then I suppose I could be me. I wonder who that is ...

The waiting line to be me is out the door and around the block, so please consider other options available to you.

How do you know you didn't die last night and this is just my lingering nightmare?

Help me out here people. I have no idea how to respond to this question. I studied Business Administration in college. Well, I didn't study so much but I got a degree. Had fun doing it though. Please don't respond in such a way that dwest thinks he moved up a place in line.

We drove by the school of business at UW Madison during midterms this summer. There were several hundred people standing outside with their heads hanging holding something in their hands, pressing buttons with their thumbs. Never seen a less attentive group of humans in my life, could have thrown a couple of million in large bills on the street and nobody would have noticed, and they call themselves business majors. Hah!

Have you ever been to New South Wales, Ben?

And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

That nice Mr Heraclitus pointed out that the illusion of self is a process, rather than an entity, when he said "can you step into the same river twice"? That which we call "identity" is not static, but a flow. The orientals said the same thing, although they preferred to liken it to a candle-flame, which is why the Buddhists refer to the "snuffing-out" (nirvana). So at this instant, you are not the same person that you were a moment ago. Already you are someone else.

Sorted. Thank you, philosophy (and Mr Heraclitus).

My mother needs a new handle, don't know what's happened to the current one, thought we'd pick something easier for her to use. This'll give her more leverage.
