Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

Thanks for the link. I should've thought to check his signature!
I still need to get that cd. To be honest, it was on my to-do list and I kinda forgot about it. Of course, that thread is from around the same time my son was born, so I was a bit distracted for a while.
Anyway, back on topic...

Picture a bright blue ball just spinning, spinning free
It's dizzying, the possibilities. Ashes, Ashes all fall down.

Currently attempting to learn the ENTIRE Stony Steps album (except the aires -- I HATE learning aires). Never learned a whole album before, and this is the first Molloy I've ever attempted. So far I have the first track, last track, and title track pretty much down (though much polishing and practice awaits). That would include the following reels:

McFadden's Favourite
Sean Maguire's
Jackson's Favourite
Stony Steps
Michael Dwyer's Favourite
Griffin From The Bridge
Johny Watt Henry's Favourite
Handsome Sally

(Sorry, I guess that's more than five.)

I'll see your Butterfly and King of the Fairies (which were added to my favorites thanks to the inspirational YouTube videos of Hatao resp. Celticmodes) and raise you The Gravel Walks as a favourite practice piece. The last two entries are outside of the traditional traditionals, and can be found in my .sig . The first one is a Belle and Sebastian song with a strong Irish suggestion, and the second one is an An Dro from the Belgian ball-folk band Naragonia.

I do like playing along with any music I have on (howdy, upstairs neighbour!), but I never would have guessed that Pink Floyd's Money would be a fluter's favourite.

Tell us something.: I play traditional Irish and Scottish music.
"The beginner should approach style warily, realizing that it is an expression of self, and should turn resolutely away from all devices that are popularly believed to indicate style — all mannerisms, tricks, adornments. The approach to style is by way of plainness, simplicity, orderliness, sincerity."

All right, so some tunes are songs. Stretch a little. It couldn't hurt.
