On another thread a while back I promised to make some comparative recordings of my new Wilkes head on my R&R with the original head and maybe some other flutes/another head.... well, I haven't had time to do so yet, but here's the first clip I've recorded (for other purposes)with the new Wilkes head: Morwyn y Pentre/Sawdl Y Fuwch/Cainc y Datgeiniad

Tune info:
Morwyn y Pentre (The Village Maid)
Welsh - Traditional (arr. Jem Hammond after J. Shorland & C.R. Matthews, adapted from N. Bennet)
Source: N. Bennett, AFN: 94 - Alawon Fy Ngwlad / The Lays of My Land. London and Glasgow: Bayley and Ferguson, 1896. (via http://docgrooms.com/corff.htm)

Sawdl Y Fuwch (The Cow's Heel or The Cowslip)
Welsh - Traditional (Joseph Parry) (arr. Jem Hammond)
Source: Joseph Parry - Cambrian Minstrelsie: (Alawon Gwalia). Edinburgh: T.C. & E.C. Jack, 1893 (via Blodau'r Grug)

Cainc y Datgeiniad (The Minstrel's Strain)
Welsh - ?Traditional? John Parry (Bardd Alaw) (arr. Jem Hammond)
Source: - I haven't been able to trace exactly which of Parry's publications this was in or what origin he gave it - trad or self-composed (though I see Gwenan Gibbard references it as his original composition on her harp album...). (via Cadw Twmpath)
I respect people's privilege to hold their beliefs, whatever those may be (within reason), but respect the beliefs themselves? You gotta be kidding!

I have made a new recording! I learned this one a couple of hours ago and liked the tune so much that I wanted to record it.
"The Sheep in the Boat"

The first few seconds were a bit unsynced, but I had no time to re-record the track. Hope you guys like it.

The link is not working properly, Arbo. I think /shared myst be a part of a working link, since the link you posted takes me to my own site. Do you mind double checking the link? :)

AbraXas,
Try it now. BTW, loved the last jig you posted. I'm going to give it a try and record it, just for the comparison of styles.

EDIT: Here's my play through (sight reading, really) of the Sheep.... tune. I purposely didn't listen again to your version to see how I would hear it in my head.

Here's a couple of reels played on my blackwood Martin Doyle. I'd appreciate any feedback...

Nice to hear your version, Arbo. Strong and steady tone as always.
Great tune, and a name that sure is hard to forget :)
Got it from the playing of Tara Diamond on the Wooden Flute Obsession 2 album, and it surely is a keeper.

Thanks for that compliment! I listened to your clip again and I really love it. Like the guitar and the doubled flutes. I think I played it a little to slow, but I need to get it under my belt and sit with it for a while to figure out exactly what I want to do.
All the best, Arbo.

If you want to, I can upload the backing track, so you have something to play along with (without my flute track).
Let me know.

Okay, that last recording kind of sucked.
I've updated it with a new take and added some mediocre guitar and percussion.

Thanks for the offer, but I feel like that's your take on the tune, and if I was able to do my own backing I would, but for now I am going to stick with my personal take. If I can get my friend who plays accordion to play alon with me I will record another version of the tune.
