Poll: Would you like an Exoskeleton

Post by BillChin »

Researchers demonstrate an exoskeleton designed for paraplegics:

Aging farmers are using exoskeletons in Japan to help them continue to do the daily chores. The military is rumored to have and use them (ala the recent G. I. Joe movie). The movie Iron Man might be the ultimate movie exoskeleton.

Would you want one? What kind do you want?

If this question would have been posed to me when I was young, my answer would have been different. For now, comfort is what I'm looking for. An exoskeleton doesn't sound comfortable. Down and memory foam covered everything is more what I'm looking for these days. And a very nice pulled pork sandwich.

Nice poll. Interesting.

Sure I would want one. My current body is out of warranty and not as reliable as it once was.

Who wouldn't want another? They're always splitting and dropping off. Then you make soup.

Yeah, I hate when that happens.

Would you prefer a cartilage structure like a shark?

We have more than a few self-propelled exoskeletons out about the house and one in the mailbox. The wife likes to name the eight legged ones.

One of my sisters has ALS and we have two friends with MS, so exoskeletons would be greatly appreciated. Freedom Motors(FMI) out of Michigan modifies cars that might as well be exoskeletons when they get done, really quite neat.

I need something that will elevate me so I can identify birds in tree top canopies easier, plus an automatic fly swatter for mosquitoes, pesky little blood sucking flying exoskeletons.

Well, it's about friggin' time. Now we just
have to figure out how to hook them up
to some nerve endings so you can control
them directly from the brain, and being
paraplegic will be a thing of the past.

Then, it will not too long before total body
replacement.

An amazing number of folks don't appear to have brains, what about them? Had one try to run me over this morning, that's when I wanted a missle launcher exoskeleton. Use my middle finger as the launch button finger.

I bet you'd run out of missiles pretty
quick if that were the launcher.
