3/4 flute

Post by Steve Bliven »

In the liner notes to Seamus Tansey's CD "Easter Snow" he refers to a "3/4 flute". I'm not familiar with the term (and the search function isn't any help with this term). Can someone enlighten me as to what Mr. Tansey is referring to?

Thanks and best wishes.

Steve

I've heard the term by other flute players than Tansey being used to refer to an F flute, however Tansey, when he was in Detroit a couple years ago, was referring to his Eb flute as a three quarter flute. So it's possible that whereever you're reading it from him, he just meant that.

Or it's possible, given Tansey's "colorful" personality, that he's just messing with everyone's heads. :)
