The McGee, totally legless
As I was responding to a PM, it occurred to me that I should mention that I'll be out of circulation from 3 August for at least a week (and conceivably considerably more!) getting both knees replaced. So don't expect any responses in that week, and maybe some pretty grumpy ones in the weeks that follow!
Anyone for a discussion on the role of science in flutemaking?
(Hmmm, where's the "All Sweetness and Light" emoticon?)

Terry, hang on to the old kneecaps - you can make endcaps...and maybe a ring or two out of them.
Reminds me of a pipemaker who told me he'd bought some old ivory billiard balls and was going to get a dentist to make him a set of false teeth from them.
A speedy recovery to you anyway!

Oh, man, Terry! Don't rush the recovery, and be damned sure you get a LOT of physical therapy afterward. Best wishes for a full recovery.

Terry, you've probably heard this sort of thing a million times already, but my mom recently had one knee replaced and now it's better than her good one. She wonders why she hadn't done it sooner.

You know, for as ghoulish as it is, that's a GREAT idea. Never mind the tired obvious jokes about really putting yourself into your work, let's talk about truly unique collectibles, and market value? Sure you'd be speculating on the tastes of a rarified clientele, but please. Cha-CHING, baby.Maihcol wrote:Terry, hang on to the old kneecaps - you can make endcaps...and maybe a ring or two out of them.

Heh heh, I remember when I was young and going to catholic schools being shown a crucifix allegedly containing a "holy relic". Do you not think I might be regarded a little pre-emptive including holy relics in my flutes before my Beatification is formally announced?Nanohedron wrote:Never mind the tired obvious jokes about really putting yourself into your work, let's talk about truly unique collectibles, and market value?
