B Chanters

Post by mayo_piper »

So kill me, I have fallen in love with the deep and mysterious sound of the B Chanter.

The question now is: where can I order one ??? (I live in North Carolina)

I believe BC Childress and CJ Dixon offer B chanters....anyone else ?

Indeed, Joe...(sorry about that Joe). Also, I'm told Woofe's apprentice is in need of some orders (who's name escapes me... surname Neeson). Word has it that Geoff very much approves of his work.

Depends on what sort of B you want.

I listened to a lot of B sets, and went with Bill Haneman. Just took delivery of a B set in Box...phenomenal soul on that chanter. It was a real treat to hear it in the hands of proper pipers too, at the NPU tionol.

It's Gleeson actually - Derrick Gleeson[*][/size]. I haven't (yet) had the pleasure of trying one of his chanters but certainly Geoff's endorsement counts for something ;-). Not sure if he's taking orders for full sets yet, but I expect chanters would be a distinct possibility.

Bill

p.s. - thanks Blake!

I did a quick search on his name. He doesn't show up on the web on either of the big search engines, Google, or UilleannObsession. How would one get in touch with him?

And Brad Angus--- His wait is relatively short, and there is a full set available for no wait. I have played his chanters and they are as good as you can get.
