Tell us something.: Ive played Irish Flute for a number of Years. Have played Sessions as well but not currently. I have also played Colonial American Flute in reenactment Groups. Started playing Clarinet in 1960 in School and later Community Bands. Also have played Bagpipes Solo as well as in Pipe Bands I played Drums in a Garage band in High School, probably my Instrument I played the best!

I kow the early M&E Flutes weighed a ton... how much does the newer RR model weigh?

I meant to have said...... how much does an M&E RR without keys weigh..... the one in the other thread I believe was with 8 keys. I had one if the early M&E's, sounded great but I always felt like I was lifting an I beam. If you got attacked in an alley though this would be the Flute you'd want to defend yourself :D

My M&E RR is heavier than my Burns and probably heavier than any wooden flute, but it's not crazy heavy. it's manageable. I've played sessions with the M&E, 2+ hours, and had no problems.

The average human arm weighs about 7 pounds, and you are holding up two of them when you play the flute. So I don't think that a couple of ounces one way or the other on the flute should make much difference.

The polymer M&E R&R I think is about 15 ounces, a little heavier than the Seery at 13 ounces (same as a Hammy 6-key blackwood).
