Re: nupitals
Congratulations!
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

Congrats (even though I personally find Donegal's "Slieve League"-cliffs more enchanting - and a lot higher, too)! God's mighty blessings to You two!

Re: nupitals
Congratulations. Enjoy this time, as soon you will be consumed by wanderinos and wanderettes darting through the kitchen and picking up things they ought not to be picking up.
(it's like "C&F throws a wedding!"...better than that 'Today' show crp!)
as a wedding professional, (900+ and counting) I cant help but offer a couple tips.
I dont know what precisely your wedding style is, but here are just a few GENERAL guidelines:
*Wedding Photographers are near the bottom of the food chain, above algae, yet below newts. Treat them so.
* Your videographers are somewhat better, but dont take any crp off of them either.
* Limo drivers expect tips, and deserve them. Make sure yours speak the same language as you do , or there will be trouble, even if he has a gps.
*Dont tip the valets, if there are any. If you feel you must, Give them a couple old xbox cartridegs you'll never use again.
*Expect that things will be late. Build a 35 minute window into the time frame.
*Plan things TOGETHER.
*Make certain your officiant, if religious, will not ask the guests for an on-the-spot conversion, and if they must speak, ask for a copy of the homily beforehand.
* If your officiant is civil, make certain they HAVE THE LEGAL RIGHT TO MARRY YOU IN YOUR STATE. If possible, do a CRC on them first (Criminal records check)
* You will be fleeced, no matter how little you intend to spend.
* The gifts you get will probably equal the expenses, if you invite enough guests. (I'll take the duplicate toaster oven, if that's ok with you)
* If having an outdoor wedding, get a tent or have a gazebo ready. Avoid open lakes where there's a lot of geese, or other such waterfowl.
* Pay as much ahead as you can. THE LAST THING you or your best man/ M.o H. will want to do AT the wedding is make sure WHO gets WHAT check for HOW MUCH.
* Have a cash-only bar. Beer & wine comp, but make them pay for the margaritas.
* Expect something to happen that neither of you had in mind.
* Spend face time with each and every guest.
It will NEVER get here, and be over in a flash. Remember it well.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Thanks for the tips, CHasR!
I've been married before, and due to the miracles of modern surgery, it is highly unlikely this union will produce any offspring
Just about everything you said, I've run into in my previous weddings. Lots of words of wisdom there.

Re: nupitals
The two-part wedding solution is a fine one, we did that ourselves. A small ceremony in Florida for our favourite relatives and then a general party in London a few months later. Worked a treat.

AH! I See.. thought you mighta been a first-timer! Well, then I'm preaching to the choir.
I wish you both happiness, and a sober officiant who is unaccompanied by his/her parole officer

Re: nupitals
sorry to necro such an old thread. Just thought I'd put up a little linky.
We've moved the date up to May of this year. We couldn't get June for the venue.

Re: nupitals
Cute photo, Greg, and thanks for the invitation. I'm a little afraid of heights, so I hope the ceremony isn't too close to the edge of the Cliffs of Moher. My wife and I, both in our sixties, were married three years ago in our backyard with family and friends attending. We also went to Ireland for our honeymoon, although we stayed away from the cliffs.
Re: nupitals
I just looked at your Wedding Party page.
If you don't have Groomsman gifts lined
up yet, might I suggest beard trimmers?
Congrats!

Re: nupitals
we've decided against a little ceremony in Ireland..nobody would be there but us, really, and my fiancee's mother decided she wanted to pay for a slightly larger event here in the states.
The local wedding is by invitation. I don't really have any ushers lined up, so I'll probably be checking invitations at the door. If you haven't received yours, don't fret! Simply write "admit one" on any standard US $50.00 bill you might have lying around (as they are approximately the same size and shape of the invitations), and I'm sure that will work just fine...
lol, yeah..i suppose the scruffy look is a thing among me and my friends

The thread "nupitals" is next to "No More Hugging". That can't be right.

So, last month, we had to change the wedding around drastically for medical reasons. But the show must go on!
