Your alone :-)

Post by Mason »

...your spouse or roommate has left just long enough for you to play a couple of tunes. The cat is out hunting mice - or something. Which whistle are you currently reaching for? Mine is a Mellow Dog C.

I don't have this problem. My wife doesn't mind my playing the whistle or any other instrument at just about any time except when she's sleeping or working on a grad school research paper.
Got wood?

Me either, actually. I'm just checking what people are reaching for today. I emphasize "today" because it will probably change tomorrow :)

Big Island Deluxe soprano ukulele. Oh wait, that's not a whistle ...

The Dixon Trad is the constant noodler that sits on my desk. But this week I've been tooting my Susato low G, a great whistle. This always happens - I take out a particular whistle to reply to a Chiffboard thread, and end up playing it for days. Of course, I have around 40 whistles within arm's reach ...

OK, the truth is that when I'm alone, I strip naked and play air whistle in front of the mirror. There, now you know.

My Dixon Trad D is my usual weapon of choice.

Hmmm. Way too much information there.

Since I'm not yet any good I tend to use any given time alone to work on new things. But today I dug out a Gen high G and F that I got a year ago or so and never really played (thought of them because of reading that thread about the small whistle/kid with small hands). The G doesn't sound nice at all, certainly not up on the high d and e. Part my fault, part the thing, so I'm going to try and improve it a bit sometime. The F however sounds just lovely. :D

Phils must think alike...agreed

For the record, I've been reaching for the sterling Sindt D; on occasion, I actually become Jethro Tull...fully clothed, I might add

Dixon Trad for ITM/AFM (I'm an equal opportunity music mangler).
Homemade Bb - for non-ITM (jazz/blues/kwela).

(Haven't indulged in any mirror tricks, here, yet. My mind boggles/cringes at the possibilities..)
