Anyone know what key this is in? I have two whistles (C & D) and C sounds close, but I'm not sure. Thanks.
She also does the Blackbird:

Cheers.

Key of A (pentatonic) on D whistle. The second tune is Stan Chapman's by Jerry Holland. Don't know where they got the name Hen with the Wooden Leg.whistlewalt wrote:Anyone know what key this is in?
The Blackbird is a made-up set name by Sharon Shannon The 2 tunes are Padraig O'Keefe's Slide and The Happy One-Step.whistlewalt wrote:She also does the Blackbird

Niel Gows Lamment for the death of his second wife
Following suggestions of which slow tune to learn next, I chose Niel Gows Lamment for the death of his second wife. Its going to take me ages to get this one the way I want it, but here is an early attempt.
As always, criticism is welcome.......

I enjoyed that a lot. Its facinating hearing the quiet unfolding of someone elses take on a tune that I am working on, and how the character of a low whistle influences it.DrPhill wrote:Following suggestions of which slow tune to learn next ...
Fine pictures too - today, here, all that snow has gone soggy and started slopping off the trees. Soon dogs will be finding balls lost in the snow.
Re: No whistle Youtube thread? Well then!
Last weekend (and a few days before) we were in Glasgow for Celtic Connections (WHAT A BRILLIANT TIME!!!!!!) and got to see some really great concerts.
I have been looking out on youtube in the hope that there will be videos uploaded from some of the people one saw taking vids during the concerts. I know BBC has some vids online but being not in the UK I cannot see these
Today I finally came across the first one of Brian Finnegan's concert http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjfWMVCXpIc which is a "little zip" through.
Another concert that was fantastic was with The treacherous orchestra, they had the whole hall steaming, it was great fun but as yet not so much on youtube to find with good quality, just a very short one http://www.youtube.com/user/patoutofhel ... QrN8iTyZuo
Our start into the short holiday was with Pennou Skoulm on Wednesday evening which was also something else, yet no vids on there neither of any of the other concerts we saw.
We came home very tired but very happy with lots of new impressions of great music....

The two tunes are: Three Little Steps, and Gouldie's. Sorry, Brigitte, that's not "Goldie's".
The last tune sounds like a bit of The Ramnee Ceilidh.

Two newly posted videoes of myself playing the low whistle and flute.

Polska on guitar and flute
I've only been playing the whistle for 5-6months and the flute for 2months, and I don't even get to practise much, so don't butcher me please.

Re: No whistle Youtube thread? Well then!
Hey krabben,
I like the first one very much. You play just 5-6 month? Wow cool.
I started about one year ago.
I will join and post two videos I made a few days ago.
1) The North Star / Jig for John
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-7O0OXeCBg
2) The Road to Errogie
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuI6A9JuR-4
Hope you like it. Feel free to comment.
PS: I am NO guitar player and I am sorry for trying to get the third octave ^^
It just needs a little bit more practise...i think ^^
