yes.......I have just been almost in tears..............
watching tv and listening to a few musicians play in a series.......
somehow it scares me a bit how deeply it touched me.....

Re: how a deaf fluteplayer gets to hear again
It is because you have missed it so much, and because you had nearly given up, and thought that it was something you would never experience again, Berti, my friend. It is scary, to be given back something you have lost, but it is wonderful too. Enjoy it, Berti.

Re: how a deaf fluteplayer gets to hear again
thank you.......but the tests are moved to thursday.
I am afraid I won't go there in good moods.
I don't know what's going on last week but things have gone worse (again).
I also think I have given off wrong impressions as everyone was so happy, and now things sound crap again as the volume is running out.
Now that is easily fixed by turning the processor volume up but that's not the same as when the audi turns the volume up at the places where it's needed.
You can imagine at least for a bit, what it must feel like being thrown back and forth between workind and not working stuff.......I am trying to NOT let it get on my nerves and keep up with things, telling myself that it's still working although partially, and that this is more than I have had last months.
Unfortunately music sounds bad again.....but that is understandable.
I find I have surely made some progress on things like : no more pain, not suffering too much trebles, not suffering other noise like it was few months back.
Trying to hold onto that.....
Unfortunately so far no news from AB, the test results of the hearing nerve function...I am after that.

Re: how a deaf fluteplayer gets to hear again
Hmm. I had a notion it might not last. But it has improved. No pain is better than pain, generally speaking.
Best wishes for your tests, Berti. As I often say to my colleagues: if it was easy, anybody could do it.

Re: how a deaf fluteplayer gets to hear again
I agree with IB, Berti: at least it has improved....and you have an appointment soon.....and people are listening to you, and interested in your problem... This is still progress, if slow and frustrating. It is good to hear that you have no pain, for that warps the way you see things. You are seeing and thinking clearly, if not hearing clearly. You will be able to explain, on Thursday.
We are all still here, Berti. Good luck.

Re: how a deaf fluteplayer gets to hear again
yeah, thanks I am indeed trying to keep looking at the positive achievements.....
and the last program I made two weeks back IS an improvement but I need further working on that one.
just the push of an additional button of the software.
I think I am just looking at things in a different light now and taking it easier.
that alone, IS an improvement
my life slowly is changing.
I am starting to realise that maybe I NEVER will get back what I had in the beginning.
I will keep trying to get as close as possible.
but I am also focussing on new things that do NOT need hearing well....and I am much happier with the things that are changing my life right now...
isn't that weird

Re: how a deaf fluteplayer gets to hear again
You never know what's around the corner. My heart surgery brought me here and able to play a few wind instruments and a concertina. I had to give up what were important things along the way too. I can't imagine what's going to happen next although I do appreciate boring. Boring Rocks!
Rose tint my world. Keep me safe from my trouble and pain.

Re: how a deaf fluteplayer gets to hear again
We are also very fond of boring!
And it is amazing what you can get used to, Berti. I too have given up many things I loved, but their places have been amply filled with other things which I can do and enjoy. You only have one life, my friend: make the most of it. Do the things you love, and if they are out of reach, do other things and love them!
However, we are all hoping for a good outcome for you tomorrow. Do not give up, either: keep fighting, but accept what is.

Yeah, people who make and play whistles are comfortable with boring.

Re: how a deaf fluteplayer gets to hear again
Yes, Boring is far preferable to pain and total loss... I wish you courage and patience, as this continues. You've gotten proof that there is still a lot of good result possible, now they have to figure out why it keeps going sour after improvement. They will be much better able to help others after the education they are getting through helping you.
I am very pleased that you are finding other ways to make your life better as well.
Hang in there, my friend!
Hugs from me.
