The Death of Thatcher...

Post by dubhlinn »

And many a poor man that has roved,
Loved and thought himself beloved,
From a glad kindness cannot take his eyes.

A mild kerfluffle over mistaken identity due to lack of clarity. Ironically, that was a real "milk-snatcher", indeed.

If it was Canada, it's as likely to have been about convicted murderer & former conservative cabinet minister Colin Thatcher, who has recently been released on day parole after being convicted of hiring hitmen to kill his wife with a hammer.
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

A cynical person might imagine a deliberate ploy to see how public opionion would react.

John Baird is not that smart. Besides, she's been the real Lady Gaga for years.

I already knew that I was a cynic now didn' I?
Picture a bright blue ball just spinning, spinning free
It's dizzying, the possibilities. Ashes, Ashes all fall down.

I always thought it was somebody else's opinion of your reasoning.

One is never cynical to oneself....unless of course, you're a walking disaster area.

Oscar never said that...

"Try living in a trashcan. You'll breathe cynicism." He coulda said that, too.

One might. But, does she even hold any sway that much any more these days, that public opinion would matter enough for a rather ghoulish ploy like that? Honest question. This Yank tends to think of her as, basically, a has-been. A has-been that no one can seem to forget, true, but: you know. History. Of course, the passing of people of note is always a matter of interest.

I find it hard to find any humour in Thatcher-related matters. When she does finally manage to go and join the choir invisible I sincerely hope she'll get a grandstand seat, preferably sitting right next to General Pinochet.

He jested, quaff'd and swore."

They cut me down and I leapt up high

I am the lord of the dance, said he!
