RIP Mary Travers

Post by Redwolf »

This makes me too sad for words.

When I was young, I modeled my voice on hers, and I'd always hoped that I'd get one last chance to see the three of them in concert again.

I always enjoyed Peter, Paul and Mary.

Henry Gibson from Laugh-In died the same day.

I am anti-urban-folkie and found PPM annoying as time went on, but I truly respected her and her accomplishments. RIP.

Anti-urban-folkie? You should see some of the rural folkies round here. You'd turn to rap in no time, old chap. I rather admire people with talent who choose to stick their heads above the parapet. They're paying back, and I think she was doing just that. Good for her. I haven't got any of their recordings, mind.
"Last night, among his fellow roughs,
He jested, quaff'd and swore."

They cut me down and I leapt up high
I am the life that'll never, never die.
I'll live in you if you'll live in me -
I am the lord of the dance, said he!

Peter, Paul, & Mary affected me greatly. I could find no one to mourn with today. Thanks for being here.

Mary's singing should have been enough to change the world.
Rose tint my world. Keep me safe from my trouble and pain.

We mourn together.

Mary's singing did change the world, and for the better.
