Congratulations, Josh

Post by JGrant-Skerries »

I see that Josh Dukes, of this forum, has his name on the list of winners at Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann 2009. Had the pleasure of sharing a tune with him and a number of other talented Americans last Wednesday night in the Cobblestone in Dublin, including another flute player, Brendan Bell.
COMÓRTAS 18 TIONLACÁN / ACCOMPANIMENT

Snr.

2nd Stephen Rooney, CCÉ, Rinn Mhic Giolla Rua, An Dún

Congrats,

Jim

Tell us something.: I am an Irish flute player and whistler. I have been a member since 2007? This has been one of the most informative sites on Irish flute I have found.

My 2 cents and a Huzzah! for Josh. Hope we can play together someday.

Congrats!
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

Great job and by someone from my neck of the woods too. But being Gaellic-challenged, could someone please explain what Comortas 18 Tionlacan/Accompaniment means? Is that what would generally considered to be the top prize for a flute player? Thanks

COMÓRTAS 18 TIONLACÁN / ACCOMPANIMENT = Competition #18 Accompaniment/Accompaniment

I'm assuming that Josh won for his tasteful guitar playing.
