unusual thoughts during whisteling
this year i have two new found hobbies;
whisteling (flageoletion(?!)) and rock climbing (climbing rocks)
the problem is that i have found my self half way up a rock thinking 'i wish i was practicing my whistle' and then later that week find myself at sessions thinking 'i wish i was half way up a rock'
the *only* logical solution is to find some other players to agree to be suspended half way up a cliff with their instruments, in some sort of folk-rock-climbing hybred extreme-sport. This could well pave the way to a fantastic music video, or perhaps an obscure art-film in black and white with french subtitles about somthing profound but totally inexplanable.

Well, you won't come to much harm if you lose concentration whilst whistling ...

Re: unusual thoughts during whisteling
When I think of all the Scottish crags I have hung off of over the years, I reckon maybe once or twice would the wind have allowed me to whistle.
Interesting thought though. Maybe if you took a bothy bag and climbed inside or pulled a rucksack liner over your head it would work? If you manage, do remember to get some photos so that we can have a laugh

Re: unusual thoughts during whisteling
I CONSTANTLY have unusual thoughts, whilst whistling.
Never about rock-climbing. (Till now, of course...)
Sidebar; Wonder how the fatigued, bloodied fingers of a serious climb woud handle the delicacy of the whistle!!!
Good Luck!

I have never seen the need to try to kill myself to have fun.

Re: unusual thoughts during whisteling
But one of the attractions of both whistling and rock climbing is that they are absorbing and that thinking about other things is uneccessary and unproductive. If I want to think about something else (or nothing, or the view) I'll go walking.

A group would be advisable. I imagine many localities have laws concerning self-flageoletion.

Flageoletion!
Why do mountain climbers rope themselves together?
To stop the sensible ones from going home.
Things I think about while whistling (in the park):
Is that a spider? (get off me!)
Is that a bee? (get off me!)
Damn, has the wind changed again?
Why can't I remember the B part of (whatever it is) and why, when I play what I think is the B part (and is actually the B part of something else) when I start the tune again it's a third, different tune?

Yeah, I think that's still illegal in Georgia....Chuck_Clark wrote: I imagine many localities have laws concerning self-flageoletion.

its very bad form to do it in public over here, disturbing the peace or somthing, there are all sortcs of by-laws and things.Trixle wrote:Yeah, I think that's still illegal in Georgia....Chuck_Clark wrote: I imagine many localities have laws concerning self-flageoletion.
Still if you can get a group together Flageolating in a park most people are too enchanted by the spectical to want to alert the authotities.
I myself would love to do some group flageoletion out-doors, while the wether is still good.
