Just curious, what tunes are people working on right now?

Just out of curiosity....

I'm working on "Sam's girls", "Merry Harriers", "Sheebeg Sheemore", and "Chanter's Tune" out of the Mel Bay Tinwhistle book, along with "Glory Reel", "Innion ni Scannlian", "Star of the County Down", "Drowsy Maggie" from various databases, along with a few others.

Always looking for good tunes!

Currently working on three O'Carolan (or Carolan) tunes for my own enjoyment ("Carolan's Farewell to Music" "Carolan's Welcome" and "Squire Parsons").

In class we have been working on "Hurry the Jug" and "The Blooming Meadows". Next Challenge: George White's Favorite.

On whistle:
The Drunken Landlady (reel), The Rose in the Heather (jig), and spending more time going over old tunes I haven't played for a while and am in danger of forgetting and/or remembering incorrectly.

On melodeon (one-row accordion):
The Mug of Brown Ale (jig), Sally Gardens (the reel), and Trip to Cullenstown (reel...which requires some creative tune adjustment on a one-row).

I'm still trying to figure out "Laurie on a Tofu Bucket," a tune on contra dance band Wild Asparagus' old cassette tape, Music from a Small Planet (or something like that).

The Carraroe, a jig, and improving on some that I already know. Mostly trying to get some bounce and life into them - I learned a lot of them at too quickly a tempo, to keep up with others.

On the Stubble Fields of Autumn. Concerning Hobbits and some other snippets from Lord of the Rings. Loch Lomond. O'Carolan's Farewell etc. Roisin Dubh (still having trouble with the B part!), and refining Rose in the Heather. Also adding some new little taps and things to old tunes.
I need to make myself get out of this slow air obsession.. any suggestions for some good reels and/or jigs?

The First Pint. Very cool jig, I'm obsessed with it right now. The Traveller, a tune I just can't seem to get out of my brain. Devaney's Goat, very nice reel. Also the classic Lark In the Morning, which is really a great tune.

The Banshee/McMahon's reel and the Kesh/Kerrigan's jig... my first 2 tunes on the whistle.

I almost have the Banshee down. Just a few wobbles on the B part. I should have it by the end of the week.

Just got through with "Star of the County Down" and "Skye Boat Song" on whistle and guitar. Here are some I plan to work on shortly:

"The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly"
"Via Dolorosa" (hopefully in time for Easter)
"El Condor Pasa" (Simon and Garfunkel)
"Inisheer"
"Old Maid in the Garret"

Of course, if I find some more interesting tunes, I'll probably try them out, too.

All the tunes from Lunasa and "The Lonesome Boatman" - as played by Finbar Furey

For a laugh, compare the ABC midi version of "The Lonesome Boatman" to the mp3!

Both available via a google search.

Definately a tune to learn by ear.
