Okay, so I'm bragging a bit...
I entered my first art show last week, my goal being just to have the guts to enter. I was so thrilled to discover tonight at the opening that I'd placed third in mixed media with this pen & ink stippled (dots) piece:
I thought I was judged with other "intermediate" artists, but found that I was in with the big guns, one professional taking first place in mixed media and another professional taking honorable mention, which made me feel even better.
I'm pleased as punch.

Way to go!
I'd have placed it in with the pros, too.

And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

Congratulations!
Is this a scene you've imagined or an actual still life from your yard? It's excellent! My sister's one of those artistic people, too. Wish I could draw/"dot" anywhere near as good as the two of you, but alas all the talent was given to her.

That's gorgeous. Stippling was the only part of my mandatory 9th grade art class that I enjoyed. Great fun.
Congratulations!

This is one of those moments in life that I would have cried. Congratulations. Just being bumped up would have been enough.

Re: Okay, so I'm bragging a bit...
Thanks everybody...it really did make my day/week/month/etc. Except for the celebration headache this morning, I'm still feeling very good.
Tikva, I always carry my camera when I walk my dog - just in case - and this was in a neighbor's front garden. I changed the composition just a bit, but for the most part it looked just like that.
Paul, I've got a little blog (new) intended mostly to keep my family updated on what I'm working on, but anybody's welcome to look at it: http://susnfx.blogspot.com . I got carried away with a work-in-progress on a pocketwatch I just finished stippling...there are a few more photos of my art on the "older posts" page. Ignore the hideous black copyright attempts. I decided I didn't care so it's only on the older stuff.

I like the way you've divided the composition diagonally with the red (Geranium?) flowers and
then counterpointed it with the round planter. I think its very Rousseau ( thats a complement, too )
