Dear Rich.
When you have a spare moment (you remember what those are, right?) could you kindly explain to me how I can include a .gif or .jpg? I get that I need to put it on my own server, but how do I go about setting it up so it appears as an image in a post?
I know you have posted on this ... but clearly I need the Idiot's Version.
many thanks
FE

Sure thing. So you've got an image, and you stick it up on, say, Geocities, at
"http://www.geocities.com/fairemma/fnord.jpg". To include it, you can either do this in BBcode:
or you can do this in HTML:
<img src="http://www.geocities.com/fairemma/fnord.jpg">
both of which will stick the image Right There.
Should you forget how, mid-post: if you click on the BBcode link in the Options section of the screen where you compose a post, you'll be taken to the section of the FAQ where all of the BBcode tags are explained.
Hope this helps,
-Rich

That's because your URL line is missing the "http://" at the beginning. You are writing:On 2003-01-02 00:07, theweirdscotsman wrote:
I still cant get it to work dangit~

...which technically is correct. However, because the http part is missing, the board looks for your address as a subsection of its current location. (think of it as being told to look for a particular page number in a book, except they forgot to tell you to look in a different book than the one you're holding.) So I clicked on your broken image and found out that it was trying to access:
http://chiffboard.mati.ca/www.geocities ... flute1.jpg
If you redo your image insertion tag as it should work. Give it another try.
EDIT - of course, that assumes that Geocities will let you share the picture directly. A lot of people have had trouble with that in the past - Geo tends to block it as direct picture views bypass their advertising.
