I was still thinking impact crater until I read the bit about methane. *shrug* Since the mantra for the Mars exploration teams is "follow the water" candidate 'mud volcanoes' sound like very obvious places to put future rovers and/or landers.

Yeah, I know they say that they don't sting; yeah, I know a few folks who have been stung by one. Go figure.

But I doubt there are any on Mars...the air would be too thin and cold for them to fly.
