Sumo Whistle Camp(?)

Post by Thomas-Hastay »

I believe I found a RARE photo a Dale Wisely on hiatus in Guizhou Province, China !!! The deeply religious monks of this temple in south west China have trained Dale in the masterful art of Sumo-Whistle-Dance. This requires great concentration of mind and body resulting in a mastery of the whistling arts :boggle:

Dale? Would you please consider opening a Sumo-Whistle-Dance Camp? There are many here who feel your powers of WhOA could beat back even the tide of Global Warming!!! What are your thoughts O Great One!?

Is his hair naturally that curly or was the whistle that bad?

<Shudder> Is that picture really appropriate for people of refined sensibiities? Are there any of those here, anyway?

Looks like a good whistle for exiting a bar brawl - and a pretty good outfit for starting one in the first place.

I would never admit to it.

It's a history thing. The real-deal shakuhachi is indeed meant to double as a weapon. Very handy when mean people try to take your busking tips.

That getup is strikingly just wrong.

So Sumo has come to China. Who knew?

According to my Japanese professor, who is a Japanese native, the 2 most prominent Sumo wrestlers currently are Mongolian.
There was a big faux-pas PR issue when the Mongolian victor raised his fists in the air upon winning. A complete no-no vis-a-vis
the Japanese humble sensibility which befits a winner.

Yes, Japanese Sumo is unfortunately a miasma of controversy these days. And don't even get me started on the so-called American version. Feh.

That is a great photo. It's like some debauched greek god has sprung out of a tussock at the slightest hint of a knees up.

He looks so comfortable. I bet he is a riot at parties.
Finally feel like I'm getting somewhere. It's only taken 6 years.

The Walrus

What would a wild walrus whistle if a walrus could whistle wild?

The second mouse may get the cheese but the presentation leaves a lot to be desired.

That looks like a Japanese shakuhachi that he's playing. And I have to question if that was taken in China. There are all foreigners in the photo. And in China he would probably be arrested. But if it was taken overseas, then maybe Japan. I've seen a lot of crazy foreigners in Japan doing crazy things. But if we all dressed and acted like this guy, then we wouldn't have wars. God help me, I'm sure I've seen this guy somewhere before....not in real life, but another net photo.
Every time I turn around, I wonder where I've been.
Time to stop turning round, I guess.
