While I speak as a native Texan I cannot speak for all Texans when I say this: "Yes, it's just a coincidence."
"Yes... yes. This is a fertile land, and we will thrive. We will rule over all this land, and we will call it... This Land."

Kennedy took two in the head.

Sam didn't.

I don't know, it all depends where you come from doesn't it? Samuel (sam-yool or sam-yel) Houston would have four syllables. It seems you are using the pronunciation 'Sam-yoo-well', as in the actor Samuel H Jackson. You could also argue that John F Kennedy has four syllables, just get that jibbering idiot George dubya Bush to pronounce it for you. It would come out as 'Jaahn F Kendy' giving us four syllables. Coincidence-Shmoincidence!!

Kennedy's middle name is not, as a matter of fact, "F".
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

Literally, it's Fitzgerald, which begins with an F.

Good point s1m0n, so following from that he was in fact John Fitzgerald Kennedy, which would then give us seven syllables in his name.

.....and following the trend of tenuous 'links' between Sam and Jack I just 'discovered' this:
Sam Houston died before the end of the American civil war and JFK died before the end of the Veitnam war. Wow! What a coincidence.

The coolest presidential initial is Harry S. Truman's, which stood for "S".

No! I'm shocked! Tell me, is he any relation to the JFK that they named the Airport after? Poor soul, he didn't have ANY proper names, just initials!

Their dads died in '63. This one's focussed on the Juniors.

Just because John Fitzgerald, doesn't necessarily mean Gerald ....
