Pre-made cookie dough.

Post by Walden »

I used to think that Pillsbury Cookie Dough in the plastic casing, like breakfast sausage commonly is sold in, came on the market about the time I was in high school. More recently I was watching a clip of the Price Is Right from before I was born and it had an advertisement for this very product. Is there any among us who could tell me when Pillsbury introduced their refrigerated pre-mixed cookie dough?

According to the official Pillsbury-General Mills timeline, Pillsbury refrigerated cookie dough was introduced in 1957. I remember my mom baking these cookies in the late 50s and early 60s.

I remember anything made by Pillsbury got a nasty sound and a look of disgust in our house. Then again, my mother couldn't boil water, so we never knew which way she meant things.

Yeah, I remember my Mom used to talk about
eating cookie dough straight from the tube
when she was a kid (this was before Salmonella
was invented, I guess...) And she was born in
1950.

I don't know if you can even find the cylindrical
tube from Pillsbury anymore. All I ever see is their
flat, pre-cut dough. You don't even need a knife
anymore. Pretty soon they'll just hover so you
won't need a cookie sheet.

I find it interesting that Nestle has one recipe (the classic one) for Toll House cookies on their semisweet chocolate morsels package, but can't follow it even remotely in their pre-made dough offerings.

Yeah, and the next thing you know they'll start selling cookies, like, pre-baked and everything. World's going to hell.

The anti-gravity cookies are a good idea, though!

So is mine, she had a date last night he drove his own car, and can see at night no less. I think she's robbing the cradle, at 90 he's three years younger.

I hear it's good (uncooked) with some pizza, weed, and diet Coke. :)

I'm old enough to remember that too. In fact, by that time, I was spending more time dreaming about Betty Crocker than the Pillsbury dough boy.
