we have had an offer of a reedmaking class by alan moller.
a couple of pipers have expressed interest.
more info to come as we progress with the organizing of the tionol.
we need e mails to asses weather there is enough interest to get this gathering off the ground.
happy craning.

I'd go Jim if free - would it be a residential type thing?

just an update on procedings
we have been offered the services of virtuoso piper and former young musician of the year jarlath henderson.
there is much to be learned from this great piper.
we are curently talking to a flute and whistle teacher.
and we have reed making classes and several pipemakers to help with problem pipes.
there is plenty of space for camping although if requested i will find b&b in advance for anyone needing it.
sessions with other instruments will be in place and recitals for the evening.
reed making students are requested to bring there own hand tools and both drone and chanter cane.
dont forget to e.mail me to express interest.
come and have a great weekend in wonderfull suroundings.

I'll be going Rory so you can meet me, and find out that - in common with a well know saint - I am actually at least 2 separate people depending on the phase of the moon.

Sounds great Jim. Have you a date at all yet?

there is not yet a date but im aiming for the back end of may.
we also have alan burton for reedmaking classes.
it just gets better by the second.
it could be just the thing to bring the north south east and west together.
makoto i wish you could be there also but japan is a long way and we will all be thinking of you.
maybee you could tell the forum how relaxin the venue is as you have sessioned there with us.

Wa hey, Burton on!

Rory, it's not freebies, it's FREE BEERS! That's probably all that could bring NSE and W together to one tionol . . . not far from Manchester though. Reminds me of a lyric

"A central location for you is a must
as you stagger about making free
with your lewd and lascivious boasts . . . "

How about a pipemakers corner with a maker on hand to discuss maintenance and problem solving. Also just a general place to discuss pipemaking.

Cheers

Anyone paticuler in mind that you would feel would be happy to share their knowledge - some might some are protectionistic in their outlook ? Would guess all of those makers who have a really extensive knowledge of pipe making and overfull order books may not be able to spare the time. Which well estabished maker is closest Brian Howard or the unmentionable enterprizing expert in the dales. This latter would clearly be the ideal as he comes from a long line of top makers and as Rory says there are lots of people who would like to meet him :o
