Nice! I love how Geantrai are getting a good bit more piper friendly this past while. Although they haven't quite figured out how to mic up regulators just yet.

More please!

Looking at the line-up on the web page it should be quite good, although I think there's a mistake in the translation:

Tiarnán Ó Duinnchinn - Strathspey (gan anim) & reels 'Paddy's Sportwear' & 'Tommy Peoples' .

The tune after the Strathspey I think was Sporting Paddy.

I think the clip on http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=8blbyNHgpO 8 is the same tunes he played on Geantrai Sun 1 Feb 2009.

The full set Tiarnan was playing on Geantrai is a Dave Williams set. He usually plays a Curran Boxwood chanter/or Williams chanter but this time he was playing another chanter and to me it looks like a Matt Kiernan chanter.

Lately he's been playing a Benedict Koehler keyless chanter - real nice tone off of it, and a Tiernan gives great demonstration of how to play G# without keys! I didn't see Geantrai the other night but reckon that's the chanter you saw. While I don't think it looks like Kiernan, it's pale colored and has sort of conical 'bead type' mounts which are integral rather than separate, so I can see how at a glance it might look a bit like MK's work.

Bill

Paddy's Sportswear... I shall have to remember that!

Perhaps they were concerned that Scottish listeners might be confused with Paddy's Jock Strap.

On the episode dated January 30 2009, Eoin Dillon plays the Gold Ring. There's also some lovely clarseach playing.

Love how Tiarnan immitates the GHP with his regs. I think he does it on one of the recent youtube posts too if you fancy a listen. And also the minor chords-very understated part of his playing but it adds so much to the overall sound.

Anyone got his album? is it any good?

Edited to include the youtube link:

(its the same set of tunes he played on Geantrai)
