Per Capita, we sure talk about Zombies a lot on this forum

Post by mutepointe »

Does anyone even know a Zombie? Yet many of us have a plan for when they attack! The only other groups we probably talk about more at the pub are aliens, our children, and crystal people. Just a speculative observation.

Gee, you don't...like...have a subway down there in WV, do ya?
hmmm...that would account for a distinct lack of zombies in your life...

I am well versed in the topic of "Zombie", since I tend to run in Zombie circles and know quite a few of them. They really aren't here to attack...they are a peace loving group of.....er......ummm......yeah. They like peace. Sort of. Maybe piece would be better. Just lock your doors.

Isn't Zombi the snake god of the Voodoo faith?

I think Odessey and Oracle is one of the best albums ever made.

I don't think it ever made gold, though. Just silver ... or was that argent?

That would be the loa (or lwa) called Damballah.

The loa aren't deities per se; they are intermediaries for a distant One God, who, in Vodou, is prayed to in his manifestations, or orisha. The believer doesn't pray to the loa, but, rather, the believer serves them, and can be possessed or "ridden" by them during rites.

Making a zombie takes a little attention, but isn't difficult:

1 oz Unsweetened Pineapple Juice
Juice 1 Lime
Juice 1 Small Orange
1 tsp Powdered Sugar
1/2 oz Apricot Flavored Brandy
2 1/2 oz Light Rum
1 oz Heavy Rum
1 oz Passion Fruit Juice

Add cracked ice and blend.
Strain into 14 oz. frosted zombie glass.

Decorate with square of pineapple and 1 green and 1 red cherry.
Carefully float 1/2 oz. 151 proof Rum and then top with a sprig of fresh mint dipped in powdered sugar.
Serve with straws.

This sentence is so much more satisfying like this, out of context.

Joel Barish: Is there any risk of brain damage?
Dr. Mierzwiak: Well, technically speaking, the procedure is brain damage.
