Typing backwards? :(

Hey guys...hope you're all having a wondrous Christmas or whatever it is you do or don't celbrate.

I'm having a technical problem I thought maybe somebody here could help with:

My computer is typing backwards no matter what I do. I normally use Firefox, and every time I click the address bar or the little Google box in the corner, whatever I type comes up backwards. I have to use IE just to type this, and I don't know what happened... What can I do? Did I push the wrong button(s)? (If I did, I blame it on my cat...)

Hahaha....no! But I can read Hebrew a little bit (it goes backwards).

Yes, it is hard for us to think outside the box, even though our appetites often take us there. In college I had a roommate who was from Syria. When I first saw him writing letters in Arabic from right to left, my first thought was, "how stupid, why wouldn't anyone want to do that?" If you grow up in Indiana, you don't have much cosmopolitan experience to draw upon.

I used to be engaged to an Iraqi, and her keyboard was so weird looking to me when I first saw it. Underneath the American letters and numbers, which were greyish white (the keys were black), were many little bright yellow Arabic characters. You pushed one button to type with the American keyboard and another to type with the Iraqi one, and depending on which button you used your letters went backwards or forwards.

At any rate, I ran some virus programs and re-started my computer, and then the typing backwards stopped. Whew!

Glad you got it sorted out, Jack!

I used to use an Arabic keyboard. The worst bit was watching the letters change from "Finials" ("Finals"?) to "median" forms when you typed something after them. I was really disappointed the thing didn't have some setting to retype the name "Mohammed" into that calligraphic twist that you see on decorative images. The other odd thing was watching the cursor change direction when you started typing numbers. Ah, happy days.
