We are back and all went well. They loved her (of course)! It was awkward at first, but Lesley was so good and so brave - she went forward and hugged them, breaking the ice immediately. Only I knew how frightened she was.

We sat together and talked, for a long time. They were able to tell us so much about David, which meant the world to Lesley. I think she had told you he was a scientist, and we now know that he was a kind and decent man, who loved life and living. And because of that, knowing he was dying, he wanted to give this great gift so that someone else would be able to live in his stead, to enjoy the music, the poetry, the joy that he loved. His family could see that Lesley was the right person, which gave them such pleasure and put Lesley's mind at rest, at last. I think until now she had felt responsible for David's death, that he had died so that she might live, not that he was already dying. Now she has completely accepted his gift.

I had taken some of the poetry Lesley wrote in hospital, and gave it to David's parents, once I could see that they would appreciate it. They were so touched by her struggle, and her gratitude. I also told them of Chiff and Fipple, and the love and care here, not just for her but for them - how everyone was aware of their tragedy as well as Lesley's triumph. They are not computer people, but were again overcome by all the kindness.

Lesley was just herself, radiating joy, gratitude and love, and they loved her too.

She is absolutely exhausted now and I have put her to bed (I seem to have said this before), but she wanted me to have let you know what happened. She will no doubt write tomorrow.

Thank you for supporting her.

Great news. I was so worried Lesley would bring some fingers and toes to snack on.

Lesley mentioned her scars the other day. When I first received my scars, I was completely appalled that the surgeon did not spend any time or effort making the scar symetrical or artistic. Symetry really matters to me. This doesn't bother me so much any more. I must say, everyone who has had heart surgery, notices everyone else's scar at their neck. We're like a club.

We knew it would be thus. :)

So glad she got to do that! It must be a load off her mind now, and a little more rose to the tint of the world. :)

Bless you both, and Bless David's family. (and where are those Puffs hiding?!?)

I was offline since Thursday night due to a huge ice storm, but rushed home tonight when power came back to see how it went. I suspected it would go well, and I'm so glad I was right. Must have been a wonderful, healing experience for all.
Hey, what are the chances of the two of you posting a picture of you so we can put faces to two of our favorite people?

And here is Lesley. I had to drag her outside to get this, this morning, and she does not (yet) know why. I think there will be trouble later.

And this is what Lesley has been doing, today. She does not know that I have posted this, either - the moment of reckoning approaches!

Song for David

David, my friend, the gift of my living
Comes straight from you, the heart you set free.
David, my friend, you knew you were dying,
You chose a path that gave promise to me.
Briefly yours was the glory of living,
You knew how precious a gift you were giving.
David, my friend, your heart is still beating,
Keeping your memory live in me.

:o :boggle:

I see I need to go and discuss a few things with Ro!

"Discuss" may not be the word I'm looking for. Those cannibalistic tendencies may be useful after all.

(placing a new trio of Puffs boxes on the counter)

So very good to put faces with the folks who have been so deeply etched into my heart this last few months!!

Yes, Lesley, kill him with kindness. I'm sure I speak for others when I say, "Yeah! Take that, Ro! Hug him once for me! " :D

The Song for David is lovely. Just lovely.

Thank you both so much for sharing all you have throughout this amazing event in your lives!! It has touched so many more!

Those were all very nice early Christmas presents for all of us. I don't play ITM. I did my best to make the song sound like an air. Very nice.

I've already played the tune once through, but I'm not sure what the tempo should be. Is this a slow or a fast piece?
