Whistle Mind Control! Secrets Revealed!
Most of you know that sound can create "Sympathetic Resonance" by rattling window panes and wooden cabinets, but did you know that sound can also affect human brainwaves? Some researchers, like Daniel K.Statnekov and others believe the ancient Aztecs mastered altered states of conciousness using the sound of whistles. Please read the last 4 paragraphs here...

Hm. I wonder if this is related to the old Brainwave
Generators program that's been around for several
years.

Of course, that depends on Stereo parallax....

Stating the obvious ...There is a fine line between Genius and Insanity...I think I've crossed way over the line!

What I'd like to know is if I can cross the line the other way. You know, like from my native insanity into, you know...genius.MTGuru wrote:Stating the obvious ...There is a fine line between Genius and Insanity...I think I've crossed way over the line!
It could happen.

Re: Whistle Mind Control! Secrets Revealed!
Interesting subject - moving more towards the 'pub' with it probably but...
Had a quick scan for other music and consciousness stuff - not quite specific to whistles but more general. Carson has been dead for 13 years and so I presume his findings have been taken forward, if deemed of worth, by the scientific community. Here's some other brain food - link to full (quite short) paper below.
Ethnic healing rituals frequently use monochromic sounds and pulsation
instruments. Many instruments used for such purposes, drums, wind or
stringed instruments, have their specific function within the ritual, stemming
from tradition, myths, cosmologies and corresponding musical
practice. There is an on-going argument between researchers and clinicians
which aspects are really significant: the sound characteristics of
instruments, their symbolism, the context and procedures, or the mental
intention between the activities.

Why else, pray tell, would we keep playing music?

Based on the deleterious (look it up) effects on my wife and our two cats, I would say there's no question that whistles effect the brain. Or is it just my whistle playing? Or do whistles only effect lower organisms like cats and w.... uh, better not go there.

What would a wild walrus whistle if a walrus could whistle wild?
The second mouse may get the cheese but the presentation leaves a lot to be desired.

Re: Whistle Mind Control! Secrets Revealed!
Erm .. what amazes me is how spin-doctors can state the bleeding obvious cloaked in pseudo-mystical terms or wrapped up in a University thesis complete with math and references.
Look to your own life - ask yourself "do I like music?". What do you think "like" is anyway?
All forms of separation are simply tools for analysis. The trick is to put the damn tools away after you've finished the job. THINK is absolutely useless without DO. If puffing on Peruvian whisky jugs gives you a buzz, well, it's probably more healthy than drinking what was in them

Re: Whistle Mind Control! Secrets Revealed!
I for one have no problem going along with that idea....There is one constant that relates our physical brain and body to the physics of a whistle and that is Phi or 1.618, the golden mean is the base line that links us to music...and allows us to appreciate it or not appreciate it......if an instrument is out of tune for example...you feel it in your stomach not only your ears...thats because it is out of tune with you and your nature and this means the physical nature of the instrument is out of line with the natural 1.618 ratio....any in tune instrument guitars...violins....and whistles, must follow this rule of harmonic principle.....certain groups and people have tried to mystify this fact of nature in the past....but hey it's just nature...it is what it is.....Absolutely I believe it, no mystery as far as i am concerned

I have to admit - it's nice to have the numbers .. even if they turn out to be relative to size of one's earlobe.
