For Sale: Sindts, Burke, Reyburns and Books

Post by lizzyj »

Ok, moving time and need to clear some things out and get money for other purchases (like more flights to Ireland -- was just at a great craic-filled session at O'donghue's last night in Dublin). All of these prices are negotiable.

Reyburn high D, excellent condition, very nice tone, $90 new-- $50
Reyburn high D, slight nick in the botton, doesn't affect tone -- $45
Burke high D, narrow bore, brass, $170 new -- $100
Sindt B, a beautiful instrument, I just don't play that much in other keys, $100 new plus a wait time -- $100 [see note below - Moderator]
Sindt high D, slight dent in the E hole, doesn't affect tone, and John would probably be willing to fix it at a nominal charge without a long wait time, $90 new -- $75

Cathal McConnell Teaches Irish Pennywhistle book and CD -- $5
John Skelton's books, A Few Tunes, and A Few More Tunes -- $5
Grey Larsen, The Essential Guide to Irish Flute and Tin Whistle, one CD is missing -- $10
Grey Larsen, The Essential Tin Whistle Toolbox, with CD -- $5

Bump.

That's a frighteningly good price on the high D Reyburn(s), the whistle that cured me of WHOA.

Tell us something.: I'm just trying to update my profile. I need to change my location since I no longer is living in Sweden. I'm still playing the whistle though for the most time I'm just a lurker on the Chiff and Fipple board.

You're right, I know, I know.

There are these (the subject of an earlier thread) http://www.harjedalspipan.se/index01.asp. And Paul Busman, right around the corner...

Reyburn for $50 SOLD
Cathal book SOLD
other Reyburn is pending

Yes, it's a good price for the Reyburns. I think they're underrated and don't go as easily as a Burke or Sindt, but Reyburn makes very good whistles.

In a different thread

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=64766

the OP notes that the "Sindt B" offered above is really a Sindt C.

If it's like mine, it should be 9/16 inch.

So a Walton's Mellow D tube would fit in the Sindt head?

I think so. My Freeman Mellow Dog D tube fits, but would need to be sanded down just a bit to slide easily into the Sindt C head. Along the lines of Bloomfield's Sindt hybrid tweak:

Apparently, cheap whiskey also helps, but I can't vouch for that. :)

Thanks for the whistle info. I assume cheap whiskey would be the least amount of cost. But where would the cut off price be before it is expensive whiskey?
