Gabriel,

Great playing--love it. Your cranns are awesome. You do play cranns and condensed rolls, yes? Also, what flute are you playing on that track?

Really, really impressed. Thanks.

Thanks!

I play quite a lot of crans in the first one, yes. I personally call my short rolls, well, short rolls ;) but they might be condensed rolls as well. No idea, sorry.

The flute is a fully keyed Tom Aebi Pratten. The best flute I ever had and tried, I wouldn't part with it for an Olwell!

Fantastic track, Gabriel - love it! Fantastic fiddler you have there too! Super lift and lilt you get together - the bodhran and cittern/zouk or whatever it is in the backing are really rather redundant - no criticsm of their playing meant - just don't add anything to this set! That may be partly to do with the mix, which I could be critical about, but absolutely not about the melody playing. Spot on jig pacing too - relaxed and flowing...... Truly lovely. More please!!!! 8) :D
I respect people's privilege to hold their beliefs, whatever those may be (within reason), but respect the beliefs themselves? You gotta be kidding!

Gabriel,

lovely, lovely set.

I haven't posted in a while, so here are a couple of relaxed (tempo) jigs.
Go easy, I have been away from my routines for awhile.

Nothing to add to what has already been said, Gabriel. Really nice playing!
The Aebi flute is really good, i tried it a few times, it has a really beautiful and rich tone and definitely enough power for sessions. One of the best flute maker around, no doubt.

"Relaxed" was the right word.
I've already heard the first jig, don't remember when. Does anybody know it's name? It's quite famous i think.

In an effort to better listen, I recorded the previous jigs double tracking myself. There are a couple of points where I lost it momentarily, but generally I thought the two takes were pretty much together. Any thoughts?

I've been trying to work on glottal stops but I'm not sure I even really know that they are. I've been making a "Ch" sound while a play and trying to push slightly from the abdomen. Can someone tell me if they hear anything like a glottal stop on this track?

Imnotirish -

That sounded pretty good to me. They were close indeed. The second to last jig you played (the one before Christe Barry's) had a tricky part at the beginning of the B part but you seemed to get it. It sounded like some tricky fingering.

Good job.
