Meanwhile, I'll just experiment. You can learn a lot from that, although I still think training sessions would be good.
TRAINING?They didn't actually train us cashiers at work when we got new cash registers in the store - we were just told how to sign on and how to do very basic stuff then the rest we had to figure out on our own. So I'll just mess around as time permits. Glad the forum is back up and running!

Chuck old messages after a coupla years, fercynoutloud. Nothing we say is that valuable, especially in the off-topic forums. I sure can't see managing that much data.

The main difference in this new interface is that everything is lighter and harder to read. So far.
How do you prepare for the end of the world?

I think that's just a skin, and can easily be changed.

You can press it! I did! I reported a post for being excellent.

If you were a moderator, wouldn't you get bummed out if all you ever saw were complaints? I know I would. Don't you think the moderators would appreciate knowing there were excellent posts out there? They might even want to read them.

The new system shows you how you voted on polls by placing a small x by the answer you have chosen (while logged in).

I notice my only language choice is "British English". Does that mean I have to start spelling words like "colour" and "behaviour"?

How does one change the "skins"?

I've spotted what seems to be one large problem with the new interface.....there is no "edit" option on back-posts, only on the most recent one until someone else makes a post, just as with the delete post option on both old and new versions. Is there a way around this? Is it an optional function the Admin can turn on or is it a baseline design feature of the new system? If there is no work-around or over-ride, it is going to be a major pain! For starters, I can apparently no longer maintain/update the main 1st post Makers List in the eponymous sticky. And more generally I like to be able to go back to my posts and correct typos and other errors I spot when re-reading a discussion.... and on For Sale threads it is useful to be able to update OPs......

I'm still learning the settings. But, what I THINK I did was set it so posts can't be edited after 72 hours.

The draft section is nice.
Hit save instead of submit, go to your "User Control Panel">
User Control Panel> and you can finish writing your when you have time.

Click on view/edit to work on it and Load and submit to dump it into a thread.

What?! You expect us to actually read this stuff??? :o

Just be aware that hitting the Report button is like pulling a fire alarm ... It sets off all sorts of bells and sirens for the Mods. So we kind of expect to see a flaming inferno when we arrive. :-)
